Children's House Architecture competition

Children's House design competition in southern Senegal, Africa
Design team: Rashin Hosseini, Roya Hosseinipour, Anisa Motahhar

In design process we focused on children, and design is revolving around their concerns. The concept is to consider the program as a sponge with its voids as recreational spaces, allowing children to move among different qualities of space with various opportunities. Their village and its elements (paths and houses) inspired the design to create a familiar space like a micro village, which can develop their sense of security.

The design is accommodated with the climate, objects rotated to have better ventilation, The floor is designed to help the drainage of water. We mostly used local materials, forms, and construction techniques to ease the construction process. All the recreational spaces are roofed with local fabrics that give more viability to the design by their colors and patterns reflecting the light on the ground.
